Hello again, and welcome to my first February blog.
In astrology, there are three modes. Four signs belong to each mode (or quality) – mutable, cardinal and fixed – and this explains how each sign operates in life. I’ll kick off with the cardinal signs – Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn – the enterprising self-starters of the zodiac. It’s no coincidence that these signs herald the start of each season…
Aries
The cardinal energy of Aries is directed toward self and healthy ego development.
Aries is the first sign and a little ball of fiery energy. Here we have the most competitive sign of the 12, naturally, you might say, as it’s the first sign. They typically have a boundless lust for life. Boredom is the enemy of Aries, and they like starting projects before handing over the reins. Like all the fire signs, Aries are creative, and their cardinal quality is as much evident in their entrepreneurial flair as in their bravery and inspirational qualities.
Cancer
The cardinal energy of the star sign Cancer is directed toward home, family, and money.
In Cancer, the energy associated with the cardinal signs is evident in the tremendous amount of energy they give out to their family – even if it’s not the conventional family unit. They tend to invest a lot in others, and this comes out in thoughtfulness and worry and putting food on the table. They also love saving for a rainy day. They sort out family problems and are usually the glue that holds it all together. Tied in with all of this the energy output is how much time they allot to the pursuit of security, mainly the financial and emotional kind, the two going hand in hand for Cancer.
Libra
The cardinal energy of Libra is directed toward partnerships and romantic relationships.
Libra feels like half a person without a relationship. If this sign is strong in a horoscope, and I’m not just talking about the sun sign, they will even consider placeholder relationships until the right person comes along. Anything but being alone. But they do give their all in a relationship, only withdrawing from the contract once it’s stopped being two-way and it’s then that their cardinal energy kicks in to push this little bee on to finding its next flower. Libra people are also keen on being seen as sociable creatures and this consumes a lot of their time and is also often tied in with their ambition. A sociable sign, being the perfect host can be a full-time job.
Capricorn
The cardinal energy of Capricorn shows up in their career.
Whether it takes ten weeks, months, or years, the mountain goat will get to the top, and they usually put a lot of store by career success. This is the sign that uses its cardinal quality to pull itself up by its bootstraps and is always open to new opportunities and rallying itself. The cardinal energy also brings this sign perseverance and the gift of never giving up. This can make them appear quite rigid and unyielding at work, but you often find that in their personal lives, they’re a lot softer and easy-going.
